Our Story

“”The inaugural Bay to Bay ride was conceived in 2020 during the early days of the Covid epidemic as a “solo ride” in response to having our fundraising events severely limited.  That year, a few intrepid individuals joined our solo rider to help raise funds to fight food insecurity in our local communities.  Since that first year, three rides of varying length have been introduced so that participants could choose their ride.  The ride routes have been updated annually so that riders can experience and enjoy the many beautiful vistas that Manitoulin Island offers. 

Over the past five years the ride has grown to include 65 riders from across the region, all riding to raise funds that continue to support local food bank programs.  To date, with the generous support of our riders and sponsors, we have raised in excess of $45,000.

2024 Bay to Bay Ride is now in the books!!!
Just a short note to thank all the participants, volunteers and sponsors for making the 5th annual Gore Bay Rotary Bay to Bay ride a big success!  We had 65 riders participate in the 3 loops… the rain and wind sure provided a challenge to all however we are all the better for the activity.
Clientele of the Lyons Memorial Food Cupboard along with other groups who rely on contributions from our Rotary club for food sustainability are also the big winners from this event.
